Float Spa / Sensory Deprivation comes to Fresno, CA

January 3, 2019

Fresno, CA – True REST Float Spa has opened a new location in the Central Valley, bringing a premier wellness experience to the Fresno community.

Fresno native and Fresno State University graduate, Dave Clay, and wife, Kelly, have a combined 30 plus years in sales and marketing in agriculture, human and animal healthcare. Kelly has worked for large Fortune 500 companies as well as small tech startups in the U.S. and Canada. She holds a degree in Management and Organizational Development from Fresno Pacific College and enjoys taking a consultative approach with her customers and corporate groups. Kelly focuses on connecting with people to provide a personalized customer experience and is looking forward to creating that environment at True REST Float Spa. David has been in the agriculture industry during college and continues to serve growers, irrigation distributors and startup companies. His experience in water filtration will lend an expertise in the float pod maintenance.

Kelly was introduced to flotation therapy by a business colleague in Canada. “In all of my years in the health and wellness community, I was surprised I had never heard of flotation therapy until 2017”. She immediately booked her first float and knew before leaving her session that she wanted to bring a new type of experience to the Fresno/Clovis area. Kelly shares, “I wanted to open a float spa to bring this form of therapy to our community. Flotation therapy has such a wide range of benefits and can benefit so many different walks of life. I wanted to make flotation accessible to anyone wanting to try this therapy as well as a comfortable and safe environment.”

Kelly did extensive research on floating prior to her first float and understood that it could take people several float sessions before really relaxing and realizing the benefits of flotation therapy. After the nervousness of making sure she understood all the steps (ear plugs, shower etc.) she entered the water with an expectation to have an enhanced meditative experience. Instead she felt tension in her neck and shoulders which brought awareness to where she holds my stress. After about 10 minutes her neck and shoulders relaxed, and she left the session feeling a tremendous physical release. Kelly explains, “each float since is unique and I don’t know what I will experience until I leave, but it is always exactly what my body or mind needs at that moment.”

Kelly is a self-proclaimed fitness junkie and loves trying many different types of exercise. The first group of people that she wants to experience flotation therapy are her athlete friends that run races, trails, participate in triathlons and cycling. Flotation therapy is being used by many professional athletes for recovery days as well as visualization for upcoming games.

Kelly is also excited about the other benefits floating holds. Floating provides a way to reduce chronic pain as well as sleep disorders and symptoms of jet lag. As a mom, Kelly also has a unique perspective, “Pregnancy is a fantastic time for new mothers to float as pregnancy tends to deplete the mother to be of magnesium as well as put additional pressure on joints and muscles with the additional weight of baby. Lying in a zero-gravity environment allows mom to relax, relieve stress, absorb magnesium and bond with baby.”

True REST Float Spa is designed to be the premier luxury float spa in the Central Valley with high end touches throughout and private float rooms with custom tile and rain showers. Each pod contains 1,000 pounds of Epsom Salts dissolved in 10 inches of skin-temperature water. Due to the high salt content, spa clients float effortlessly while their bodies and minds unwind. True REST also provides free flotation therapy to veterans, active military, and first responders on the 11th of each month. With Kelly’s long history of yoga practice, True REST Fresno is planning on hosting community workshops including: Prenatal Yoga, Meditation, and Restorative Yoga.

True REST Float Spa in Fresno is now open on Champlain Dr. A one-hour session will cost $79, with packaged deals and membership specials also available. You can contact the spa at 599.721.4336 or reach the owners at clay@truerest.com. Hours are 10am – 10pm Tuesday – Sunday; Mondays 4pm – 10pm.
